Version 1.1.0 is not a huge fireworks release like 1.0, but it is exactly the kind of update that makes Chronicle Keeper nicer to use day by day. Search gets a bit more feel for relevance, your last active Realm sticks around more reliably, and new accounts get to their first Realm with less friction.

Added

  • Your active Realm is remembered better: After a fresh login, Chronicle Keeper restores your last active Realm. If you only have one Realm, that one is selected right away.
  • New accounts get guided in faster: After email verification, new users get a clear confirmation and are taken straight into creating their first Realm.
  • Starter packages for Realm creation: While creating a new Realm, you can now choose how much structure should already be prepared. That gives world builders, game masters, and players different levels of guidance from the start.

Changed

  • Search weighting now has better priorities: Whiteboards are easier to find, and World Entities carry more weight when you are looking for the canon of your Realm.
  • Tags matter more across content types: If tags are your main way to tie related content together, search now treats them more accordingly.

Fixes

  • Clearer wording in a few places: Some text now does a better job of showing what a feature is for and what it does.
  • Registration uses the right fields again: The registration flow now has the correct form fields for email address and password.
  • Resend is now listed on the privacy page: The email provider Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc.) was still missing from the list of third-party services.
  • The current date picker works again: Changing the current date now actually changes the current date.

A friendlier start for Realm creation

The second step of Realm creation where you choose a starter package for the default settings

In the second step of Realm creation, you can now decide more clearly how much Chronicle Keeper should prepare for you up front. That makes the first steps smoother without forcing your Realm into one fixed direction.

What search weighting actually does

Search across multiple fields and content types needs weighting. A hit in the title should speak louder than one random word hiding in the fourth paragraph of a long document. And because people often search for the canon of their Realm, a World Entity will usually matter more than a generic document using the same words. That is the balance the new weighting tries to improve.

As always, different people expect different things from search results, so some balance is needed here too. If search still feels wrong for your Realm, feel free to message me on Discord and we can look at it together. Since I obviously do not poke around in your data, I depend on your feedback for cases like that.
