Prepare visually
Some ideas need room to spread out.
A section of a map, a few clues, several people involved: a Whiteboard gives you space to view visual material together. It gives your visual preparation a place beside the written entries, so maps and clues do not live apart from your notes.
Images and clues in one place
Use a map as a background and gather images and clues on it. Arrange the material freely to suit your preparation.
Move, group and label the material as you like. Nothing on the board changes your notes. You decide what it shows and what it leaves out.
From the overview to the detail
Content markers can lead to entries in your Realm. Your visual preparation can be connected to written descriptions rather than becoming a collection of disconnected image copies.
A marker can point to one image, a map excerpt or a whole entry. Open the marker to read the current text. You do not need to rebuild the board for it. If a clue turns out to be wrong, you remove its marker. The note is not changed.
Whiteboard or World Graph?
On a Whiteboard, you arrange images, maps and clues yourself. The World Graph shows the Relationships and World Events recorded on your entries.
Both views answer different questions: where do I arrange things, and what is actually recorded? Use the Whiteboard for your arrangement and the graph for the connections your entries record.
Not a virtual tabletop replacement
A map on a Whiteboard does not mean Atlavium provides combat rules, line-of-sight systems or a shared live-play mode. Use it to present and prepare information your group needs.
Your notes are the source. The board is a view for a moment, whether you play online or at a table.
Start with one map
Open a map as the background and place the first clues on it. A sketch of the harbor with three markers can be enough for an evening. Choose the map that matters for the next session, not the whole continent.
